ThePOWERplus® Roadrunner is an educational DIY solar car from the POWERplus® Junior line. This fantastic little toy teaches children how to use renewable energy as a power source in a hands-on way!
The set allows children (recommended age 8+) to build a simple but functional vehicle on their own. Just place the assembled car in the sun, and the built-in solar cell will generate electricity that will power the engine and set the car in motion. No batteries, only pure solar energy!
Main Benefits of the POWERplus® Roadrunner Kit:
- Learning through play (STEM): The child learns in practice how solar energy is converted into electricity and mechanical movement. Learns the basics of operation of photovoltaic panels and electric motors.
- Simple and Engaging DIY Project: Comprising approximately 20 pieces, the kit is relatively easy to assemble (estimated time: 10 minutes), giving you the satisfaction of building a working toy yourself.
- 100% Ecological Drive: The car runs only on free solar energy, does not require batteries.
- Development of Manual Skills: Assembling a model exercises precision and the ability to follow instructions.
- Mechanism Observation: The open design of the front drive allows you to observe the operation of the gear and motor.
- Perfect as a Gift: A great, inexpensive and educational gift for children curious about technology and ecology.
How does it work? (Sun Energy Converted into Motion):
When a solar panel (photovoltaic cell) placed on the roof of a car is exposed to direct, bright sunlight, it begins to generate electricity. This current flows directly to a small electric motor, which drives the vehicle's wheels through a simple gearbox. The stronger the sun, the faster the car goes!
Easy Installation:
The "Do It Yourself" set contains about 20 parts that are built on a solid metal chassis. Plastic elements are usually connected by pressing or using simple screws. A clear instruction (probably pictorial) guides you step by step through the assembly process. Although intended for ages 8 and up, younger children may need a little help from an adult.
