How does a Salt Water Fuel Cell Work?

The heart of the Bob Cat vehicle is a special Magnesium-Air (Mg-Air) fuel cell. It consists of an anode made of a replaceable magnesium (Mg) plate, an air cathode and a non-woven fabric membrane. After adding a few drops of salt water (a solution of table salt in tap water), which acts as an electrolyte, an electrochemical reaction occurs between the magnesium anode and the cathode (using oxygen from the air), generating an electric current that powers the vehicle's engine.

Important Information (Fuel and Operation - Read Carefully!):

• "Fuel": Operation requires a self-prepared solution of table salt (NaCl) in ordinary tap water (a few drops added with a pipette).
• Riding Time on One Fill: A single addition of salt water to the cell usually allows for approximately 15 minutes of continuous riding (similar to other models in this series). After this time, clean the cell and add fresh solution.
• Cell Consumables: In the process of generating energy, the magnesium anode is used up. This is a replaceable item.
• Anode life: One magnesium plate is enough for approximately 4 hours of total driving (similar to other models in this series).
• Replaceable Anodes Included: The set usually contains 3 replaceable magnesium plates, which gives a total of about 12 hours of fun. (Please check with your retailer for availability of additional tiles).
• Age: Recommended for children 8 years and older.
